Calculemus is an expression by philosopoher and mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Already in the 17th century, Leibniz realized that intelligence is a computational process. He therefore predicted that, sometime in the future, we would no longer have debate. Instead, we would simply compute the correct answer: calculemus, 'let us compute'. This early-day insight in the nature of intelligence forms the cornerstone of the Leiden AI Student Team: we use intelligent compute to tackle AI challenges.
